Job Overview:
As a Data-Focused Backend Engineer at HealthCenta, you will play a critical role in developing
and maintaining systems that process, categorize, and analyze large datasets related to diverse
healthcare services. You will work closely with our technical and product teams to build systems
that help HealthCenta understand platform usage and enable our clients to make sense of their
data. Additionally, you will collaborate with the technical lead to build machine learning models
that automate various health-related processes. You will work with a tech stack that includes
Python (FastAPI), React, EKL, Redis, PostgreSQL, and AWS, ensuring our platform delivers
precise and actionable insights to medical insurers and providers across Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
● Design and Develop: Architect and implement backend services and APIs using Python
(FastAPI) to handle large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and standardization for
various health services.
● Data Integration: Build and maintain data pipelines that process CSV uploads, ensuring
data integrity, consistency, and accuracy, focusing on comprehensive healthcare
services.
● Optimization: Optimize data processing algorithms to enhance performance and
scalability, tailored to the needs of insurance companies managing a wide range of
health services.
● Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, technical teams, and product teams to
integrate machine learning models and develop systems that enhance our
understanding of platform usage and client data.
● Machine Learning: Collaborate with the technical lead to build and implement machine
learning models that automate various health-related processes within the platform.
● Database Management: Design and optimize databases using PostgreSQL and Redis
for efficient read and write operations, handling complex healthcare and service-related
data.
● Security: Implement robust security measures to ensure the safe handling of sensitive
healthcare service data, adhering to industry regulations.
● Cloud Deployment: Utilize AWS for deploying and managing cloud-based services,
ensuring high availability and scalability of our platform.
● Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues in backend services related to data
processing, ensuring high reliability and minimal downtime for our insurance clients.
● Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for backend services,
APIs, and data pipelines, ensuring clarity and thoroughness.
Qualifications:
● Experience: 3+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly with data-driven
applications.
● Languages & Frameworks: Proficiency in Python (FastAPI) and experience with React.
● Data Expertise: Strong experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Redis), data
processing frameworks, and developing data pipelines.
● APIs: Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
● Cloud: Experience with AWS for cloud-based deployments and services.
● Version Control: Proficiency with Git or similar version control systems.
● Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills, with a strong ability to troubleshoot
complex data processing challenges.
● Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Have:
● Machine Learning: Experience working with machine learning models and integrating
them into backend systems.
● Big Data: Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
● Security: Knowledge of best practices in data security and encryption.
